Students interested in trying out for SFA Orchestra
Audition for Concert Orchestra–Strings II (Minimum Requirements for SFA Acceptance.
- Please visit the School for the Arts website for any additional forms
- A recommendation from the orchestra teacher that provides evidence of good classroom behavior and test grades.
- A successful audition performed on a quality instrument that meets the standards of Richland Two. Students must be able to vibrate and tune their own instrument.
- Perform excerpts and scale below. See what class you would like to audition for and prepare the excerpts and scales.
- Sight read a short 4 measure melody.
Audition for Concert Orchestra–Strings II (Minimum Requirements for SFA Acceptance.
- Students must be able to perform the following 2-Octave Scales and Arpeggios in tune at a quarter = 80: C, G, D, A, F, B-Flat and E-flat Major. Memorization earns extra points but is not required if the scales are performed well.
- Students are also required to perform one of the following:
- Advanced Technique (Goldenrod Book): page 30; Nos. 133, 134, and 135 (counts as one selection)
Audition for Chamber Orchestra-Strings III (Full SFA Acceptance)
- Students must be able to perform the following 3-Octave Scales and Arpeggios in tune at a quarter = 80 (Bass: Two octaves only): C, G, D, A, F, B-flat and E-flat Major. Memorization earns extrapoints but is not required if the scales are performed well.
- Students are also required to perform one of the following:
